Joanne Wilkoff Wilson, Ph.D., founder and Executive Director of FAST, developed what was then called the ODD Group Treatment Program while treating children and adolescents at an outpatient mental health clinic in York, PA, run by Wellspan Behavioral Health. The program was developed there over the course of ten years, from 2003 until 2012. During those years, it became clear that the program was yielding improvement in the children with results that were unprecedented. The program was tweaked over the course of the ten years and when the pre-treatment and post-treatment data were analyzed from 2010 to 2011, 79 percent of 102 children were no longer rated as ODD after completing the FAST program in eight weeks. Dr. Wilson knew the program was special and it was her professional obligation to share it with the greater community.
Dr. Wilson earned her doctorate in Behavioral Psychology and School Psychology at Columbia University in New York. Dr. Wilson also holds Master’s Degrees in Educational Psychology/Special Education; Philosophy and Behavioral Psychology. Dr. Wilson has assessed and treated thousands of children and adolescents in the past 30 years. FAST is her final and hopefully lasting contribution to her field of study and to the children and their families who need help in loving one another again.
